Doctor Seuss is such a famous writer that it would be difficult to pick out his most popular books. He has published a total of 46 books, all of which entice generation after generation of children.

Preferences are something individual and each person has a favorite Doctor Seuss story. This article lists some of the most popular books by the author that have affected literature and have made a long-lasting impression.

The Cat in the Hat

This happens to be the best-selling Dr Seuss book. Green Eggs and Ham was published in August 1960.

Two characters have a dialogue and this is how the entire book unfolds. It contains no narrative. A character named Sam tries to convince another character that lacks a name to try a meal consisting of green eggs and ham.

Green Eggs and Ham is suitable for very young children, since the book contains simple words. This is the fourth best-selling children's book of all time and it certainly will be an amazing baby shower gift.

The Lorax
The Lorax came into existence in 1971. The originality of the characters is one aspect that makes the book unique and typical for Dr Seuss.

This book speaks about nature, its abundance and diversity. A movie was created following the book's plot. The Lorax lead to some controversy since a number of people consider it to be unfairly critical of the logging industry.

Other characters live in the world of Hello Kitty. These characters include family and numerous friends. In 2004, Hello Kitty got her pets - a kitty and a hamster. Why Is Harry Potter So Popular?

If you're reading this then you will have heard of Harry Potter. There are not many people or societies around the world who haven't heard of this character. So why is he and the books, films so popular?

I believe it is a combination of things, for a start the books are very well written and the stories themselves are interesting to kids and adults. The stories aren't placed in this world, which will allows kids imagination to run wild and they can relate to it more.

I believe a big factor is that Harry is such a likable kid and the fact that the stories in the book can be related to by children. Every child at some point has been denied something by their parents and become angry with them. When you're a child your parents are like God and they have full power over their children, with Harry being able to escape, I think this is something every child can relate too, I certainly can and I'm no longer a child. Also the fact that the Dursleys represent what we sometimes see in regular families and the fact the adults are secondary to the action with the kids being the main stars.

The magic issue is another important fact. Every kid would love to believe in a secret world of magic where the underdog is the hero. The stories have very clever hidden aspects such as normal everyday things having magical qualities. Platform 9 3/4, Diagon Ally, how the portraits move and talk, all these little details make it the success it is today. JK Rowling is a genius really, she has a vivid imagination which she managed to get a across in the stories and get us all hooked.

The gadgets and games in the stories are everybody's fantasy. Flying on brooms, playing Qudditch, going back in time are all things kids would love to do and adults alike.

Children and adults can relate to many things within the film. Dealing with a bully, not getting your own way and having family troubles. This is what all children and often adults deal with.

Like every good story, it should play with your emotions, you feel sympathy for Harry when his parents die and you feel genuine happiness when he is having fun with his friends. Every base is covered in the books; there is a good badie Voldemort and plenty of mystery and suspense.

If you have never read a Harry Potter book and are planning on doing so you will be seriously surprised. The stories will take you far away from home and this world and give you the ride of your life! Enjoy.

The Most Popular Decepticons

One of the things that has ensured the Transformers' popularity since they were first on television in the eighties is the characters. One of the other things is the fact that they transform from robots to vehicles but that's another story. It is common for writers to focus on a great good guy character and ignore the bad guys. Look at Superman as an example. Just as much effort was put into the Decepticons as the Autobots and there are great characters on both sides.

Some of the most popular Decepticons all have their origins in the original Transformers cartoon.

Starscream is by far one of the most popular Decepticons. He is one of Megatrons soldiers and sees himself as second in command. Starscream is always trying to find a way to get any advantage he can over Megatron and take leadership of the Decepticons. Starscreams problem is that he is a coward and inferior in power to Megatron. He has had his moments though. In the 1985 animated movie he enjoyed a very brief reign as leader before Megatron came back as Galvatron and blew him away.

Soundwave is another very popular Decepticon. In the original series he transforms from a cassette player into a robot and can fire out cassettes which turn into animal robots. Soundwave has a very distinctive vocoder style of voice and is often the loyal strong silent type always willing to do Megatrons bidding.

Devastator is a Decepticon made up of five separate robots called the Constructicons. They combine to form Devastator who stands over three times the size of the majority of Autobots. Devastator was seen in the Transformers movie Revenge of the Fallen but was radically different to how he is in the cartoons. He was still comprised of Constructicons but his design was based on a gorilla so he had a stooping lumbering presence.

Megatron is the leader of the Deceptcons and has a reputation as a maniac on and off the battlefield. Megatron inspires devotion through fear and a lot of violence. In the original television series he was always cooking up new schemes to get his hands on some Energon.

Megatron has transformed into many things including a tank and a Cybertronian Jet but his most famous incarnation is as a gun which is then used by one of the other Decepticons. This form of mass shifting was deemed too unbelievable for the Transformers live action movie. However, mass shifting does occur in the film when Bumblebee changes the all spark from a huge structure into a small cube.
